A joyful celebration of the Good News

Text Box: Bonnie Lefevre and her son Tony were lucky enough to have tickets to one of the venues at the Olympics. Here is what she wrote about the trip.
It was so awesome and we had so much fun!  When we arrived at the Vancouver bus depot, we took the sky train to downtown (it was extremely crowded) and we saw the Olympic Cauldron and then walked all over the place (I must have walked 7 or 8 miles total and thousands of steps). They had Robson street closed off and you could walk up and down it for over a mile straight. We ate at a local hamburger place and then headed up to the Vancouver Olympic Centre which is in the Cambie section. We took the subway/sky train almost everywhere. We Text Box: stopped at the Olympic village site and walked to a point where I got a picture of the huge Australian kangaroo flag.
Curling was so much fun. The venue was in a nice neighborhood (no industrial just homes) next to a baseball field and park.  We saw Canada v. Great Britain and we sat next to the family of one of the Great Britain players and that was cool. The team is actually from Scotland. The Canadian fans were wild. In the tenth "end" (that's like the last inning) of the game, the Canadians were almost about to lose and the fans started singing "O Canada".  Imagine 5,000 people singing in a 5,600 seat venue. They were waving their Canadian flags and EVERYONE who was from Canada stopped and Text Box: sang. All the curlers just stopped what they were doing as the entire song was sung and then people started cheering Ca Na Da over and over.  It was an incredible event to see.  The Canadians were down to the second to last stone and they pulled it out and beat GB. Pandemonium erupted.

Wayne Gretzky also came to the game (he was about 100 ft away and that was cool to see him). When people realized he was there they started chanting "Gretzky" and he had to stand up and wave and the crowd just roared.  Tony & I read up on curling so we sorta knew the rules, and we really had fun.
I was really blessed to have such an adventure with my son and I'm so grateful to God for the memory.
